Lon Chaney's first and only talkie, a remake of his hit 1925 circus flick in which he plays a ventriloquist who disguises himself as an old lady to carry out a crime spree. The popular actor had throat problems during filming, presaging the throat and lung cancer that would kill him. At the time of his death, on August 26, 1930, Universal was still hoping he would star in DRACULA
