last two people in a California town who haven't had their minds
taken over by outer space fascists. (Or are they communists?)
Director Don Siegel insisted that he wasn't making an anti-
Communist film, and that in fact his vegetable-pod invaders were
based on bland studio executives who had been drained of all
personality.
